A retirement flypast will take at the former RAF station at Leuchars on Thursday, February 21. The GR4s from RAF Marham will pass over military bases and other locations in Scotland, England and Wales during a three-day farewell. On Thursday they will pass Leuchars Station, now an army base, RAF Tain and RAF Lossiemouth. The Tornado F3 was flown by Leuchars squadrons until 2011 when it was replaced by the Typhoon. The multirole combat aircraft has been used by the UK’s air force for 40 years. F-35 Lightning II fighters and an upgraded Typhoon fleet will replace those at Marham. Flights are weather dependent and timings have yet to be confirmed.
