An elderly woman has been robbed in an “absolutely terrifying ordeal” at her home in Gowkhall.
Police have appealed for witnesses to the shocking crime which happened at around midnight on Friday February 22.
An 80-year-old woman was in her home in the west Fife hamlet when five men, with their faces partially covered, forced their way into the property.
They began searching the house before stealing a quantity of jewellery, including a gold Rolex watch.
The suspects then made off from the area and the victim contacted police.
Inquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to come forward.
Detective Inspector Graham Fenton said: “This has been an absolutely terrifying ordeal for the elderly homeowner who is deeply upset and is being supported by our officers.
“I believe the local Gowkhall community will be outraged by what has happened here and I would urge local residents who remember seeing any suspicious to contact us immediately.
“In addition, anyone with any further information relating to this incident should also get in touch.”
