A police cordon was set up around a two-storey block of flats in the street at the weekend. It is understood trouble broke out in a ground floor property of the block.
Local residents said there was intense police activity in the street on Saturday evening.
A member of the public described the scene as “like a horror movie” and said residents were in the dark about what had happened.
He said: “Police have been standing outside the block in shifts.
“I think it’s shocking and they need to tell people what’s going on. It’s a neighbourhood and we need to know things.”
A neighbour said: “We came back to the house and had dinner. At around eight o’clock, that’s when we saw all the flashing lights.
“There were police vans, four police cars, an ambulance and CID cars.”
She said all neighbours had been told was that someone had been arrested and a woman was in hospital.
