An investigation has been launched into the death of a crewman at Rosyth Dockyard.
The 72-year-old, who was working on a dredger, was pulled from the water on Thursday afternoon and pronounced dead by paramedics.
Circumstances surrounding his death are being probed by the Marine Accident Investigation Branch.
Coastguard and lifeboat crews rushed to the dockyard shortly after 4pm on Thursday and joined police, firefighters and paramedics already at the scene.
A police spokesperson said: “Police in Fife were called to Rosyth Royal Dockyard shortly after 4pm on Thursday, February 28, following a report of concern for a person.
“A 72-year-old man was recovered from the water and sadly pronounced dead by the Scottish Ambulance Service.
“His family have now been informed and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
“The Marine Accident Investigation Branch has been made aware and has commenced a safety investigation.”
