A three-car collision involving a police vehicle closed a busy Fife road on Friday night.
A major emergency service response was mounted with police, firefighters and paramedics called to the scene on Oriel Road in Kirkcaldy at 4.50pm on Friday.
The road was closed in both directions and motorists were asked to avoid the area.
A police car and a red car are said to have collided on the road. A white Audi TT was also involved.
One nearby resident said she was sitting in her house when she heard “sirens and then a big bang”.
Three ambulances and two further paramedic cars were called to the scene.
One local said at least one person involved was badly hurt and taken to hospital.
A woman is also said to have been taken for treatment.
Three fire and rescue appliances, all from Kirkcaldy, were called to the scene. They were sent to the incident at 5pm.
One passerby said firefighters had to cut people out of all three vehicles, including the police car.
Three police vehicles were at the scene quickly afterwards.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “We were called at 4.50pm following a collision involving three vehicles.
“The road is currently closed in both directions and we would advise motorists to avoid the area.”
