Olborski was brought from custody to Dunfermline Sheriff Court for his anti-Scottish rant.

A Fife man has appeared in court accused of attempted murder.

Leonard Taylor of Lochgelly is accused of carrying out an attack on another man in Halbeath earlier this month.

The 36-year-old is alleged to have stabbed Michael Gardiner in the neck in Fod Street on April 1.

He is also charged with unlawful possession of a bladed weapon.

He made no plea to the charges during a private appearance at Dunfermline.

Taylor also faced a charge of attempting to pervert the course of justice, along with Caroline Berry who lives with him.

The pair are said to have sent messages to witnesses involved in the case.

They also appeared on a drug dealing charge.

No pleas were tendered to either charge and Sheriff Craig McSherry remanded them in custody until a second court appearance within the next eight days.

Mr Gardiner was treated in hospital in the wake of the April 1 incident.

Emergency services were called to the area shortly before 7.30pm and police sealed off parts of the neighbourhood and appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Police Scotland announced on Wednesday that a 36-year-old man had been charged in connection with the attack.

Detective Sergeant Kieran Marsh said: “Crimes of violence are never acceptable and we will not tolerate this type of criminality in our local community.”
