Firefighters spent more than two hours tackling a blaze at Tentsmuir Forest on Friday.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were called to the eastern fringes of the woodlands on Friday at about 3.45pm after being alerted by several members of the public.
The grass blaze broke out near the 19th-century ice house, some way off the main road.
Three appliances – two from Cupar and one from Tayport – were called to tackle the fire. A forest ranger was also at the scene.
The blaze affected an area of grassland said to be 100m x 100m in size before being extinguished.
A fire and rescue spokeswoman said: “We are still there. The fire is now extinguished. We are just there looking for hot-spots.
“We had three appliances. It was a grass fire approximately 100m by 100m. We got the call at 3.44pm. The stop message came in at 6.13pm. We used six beaters and three shovels.”
Two appliances remained in attendance as of 7pm.
Tentsmuir, known as Fife’s forest by the beach, covers some 50 square miles between Tayport and Leuchars.
Owned by the Forestry Commission, it consists mainly of Scots pine and Corsican pine.
