Emergency services were called to Pitreavie Business Park in Dunfermline at around 7pm after a member of the public reported a strong smell of gas. Police officers immediately put a cordon in place sealed off the affected area, and an ambulance was also called as a precautionary measure. Gas engineers swiftly arrived on site to identify the problem and make the area safe before the road was reopened a short time later. A spokesperson for Police Scotland confirmed that officers had only been on site to keep people away from the area while the problem was rectified.
