A man is due to appear in court on Monday in connection with an alleged assault in Kirkcaldy.
The incident happened in the Gallatown area late on Friday May 17.
The alert was raised at 10.20pm.
A spokesman for Police Scotland said officers had attended to a report of a man having been assaulted on Overton Mains.
When they arrived, officers found a 17-year-old with serious injuries.
The teenager has been treated at the Victoria Hospital, only a short distance away from the scene.
Police added: “A 16-year-old male has been arrested and charged in connection with this incident and is expected to appear at court on Monday 20th May, 2019.”
