The alarm was raised at around 3.30pm on Sunday. Three appliances attended and crews arrived to find the building at Newton Farm well alight. Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said the occupants of the cottage were out at the time and nobody was injured in the incident. The blaze caused extensive damage, destroying the roof. It is understood two adjoining cottages may also have been damaged by the fire. Fire fighters took around two hours to get the blaze under control.
