Knockhill will welcome 15,000 bike racing fans to the annual Bennetts British Superbikes tournament this weekend.
The fans will have a home grown talent to back – Tarran Mackenzie, son of Superbikes legend Niall.
The team at Scotland’s national motorsport centre are prepping the 1.3 mile circuit for the influx of some of the best motorcycle race teams and riders.
Competitors from Australia, Japan, America, Europe and all four corners of the UK will contest the fifth round of the 2019 championship.
A unique addition to this year’s championship is the Integro Summer Triple Crown, a mini challenge within the overall championship in which a rider could win £75,000.
Based over Brands Hatch, Knockhill and Snetterton, the three round challenge sees winning riders able to tap into this unprecedented prize fund if they can win at any of the venues.
Leading the way, and favourite to take the lion share, is “Bad Boy” Aussie Josh Brookes.
Local star and leading Scottish rider Tarran Mackenzie is on the back foot having crashed at 100mph at the last round at Brands Hatch.
The 23-year-old Scot, youngest son of the triple champion, opened 2019 with a win at Silverstone but a mysterious crash at Brands Hatch in qualifying meant he was forced to miss the entire round and will only be back on a bike for the first time when he arrives at Knockhill.
In the support classes, Scot Taylor Mackenzie is currently second in the Supersport championship and Perthshire rider Rory Skinner is aiming for a possible podium finish on his Kawasaki at his home circuit.
The event starts with free practice for all the riders on Friday June 28, the race for pole position is on Saturday and the main event day with the anticipated 15,000 bike fans on Sunday.
