A police helicopter spotted in the sky over parts of south west Fife is understood to have been helping the search for a boy reported missing.
Members of the public saw and heard the chopper hovering over the M90 towards the north side of the Queensferry Crossing, and over Rosyth, Inverkeithing and parts of Dunfermline on Thursday evening.
A Police Scotland spokesman said the helicopter had been “assisting with a routine incident”, but gave no further details.
However, it is understood officers were called earlier in the evening to help trace a young boy who had been out on his bike and was thought to have been in or around the Queensferry area.
