The clean up has begun at a Fife church after bones from the graveyard were washed into the street after a wall collapsed due to heavy rain.
The incident happened at Largo and Newburn Parish Church in Upper Largo after a boundary wall collapsed on Saturday, August 10, disturbing a number of ancient graves.
Rubble, soil and the contents of a number of old graves collapsed blocking the road below.
Fife Council have assisted the church as the process of retrieving the bones and making the area safe continues.
Liz Murphy, head of bereavement services at Fife Council, said: “Unfortunately, some historic graves were disturbed and exposed.
“In order to preserve the dignity of the deceased, where safe, the remains have been moved into the church.
“Any exposed ancient lairs are covered until it is safe to restore or rebury them.”
