A serial shoplifter celebrated not being jailed by leaving court and stealing a bottle of vodka.
Appearing at Dunfermline, Joan Meiklejohn, 46, of Lumphinnans Road, Lochgelly, admitted that on July 17 at Marks and Spencer’s Dunfermline store, she stole the alcohol.
Defence solicitor Danielle Valera said her client had been at court and had taken Valium to calm herself down.
“When she left court, she found herself in the shopping centre,” she said. “She can’t remember being there.”
Meiklejohn will return to court again on November 13, although Sheriff Craig McSherry warned her to expect eight months in jail if she is caught shoplifting before then.
