One person has died and another is in a critical condition in hospital after fire swept through a house in Fife early on Saturday morning.
The alarm was raised just before 6am to reports of a fire at a two-storey home in Thorn Tree Place in Oakley.
Scottish Fire & Rescue dispatched several crews to the scene to tackle the blaze, where it was later confirmed that one male had died and female had be rushed to hospital where she was in a critical condition.
A spokesman for Police Scotland, said: “Police in Fife responded to reports of a fire at an address in Thorn Tree Place, Oakley at around 6am on Saturday. August 24.
“As a result of this incident, one man sadly died and a woman has been taken to the Victoria Hospital in a critical condition.
“Inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding this fire.”
A Scottish Fire & Rescue spokesperson confirmed: “We were alerted at 5.52am on Saturday, August 24 to reports of a fire within a two storey dwelling in Oakley, Fife.
“Operations Control mobilised a number of resources to Thorn Tree Place and firefighters remain in attendance.”
