A Fife politician is getting his notorious mop chopped for charity in the Scots capital.

SNP MSP for Kirkcaldy David Torrance’s flowing locks are being cut at Holyrood in aid of the Maggie’s Fife cancer support centre.

Kirkcaldy SNP MSP David Torrance is getting his hair cut to raise money for Maggie’s.

He has been growing his hair for the past year, however his new look did not go down well with the general public.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon was the first one to wield the scissors before Mark Reynolds of Kirkcaldy’s Revolution Barbershop stepped in.

Live video of Mr Torrance’s much-needed haircut can be watched here.

Speaking prior to the event Mr Torrance said: “There’s been such a buzz about my hair recently. Everywhere I go people have been telling me to cut it, so I thought if I was going to do it I may as well do some good out of it and raise money for such an excellent cause.”

Mr Torrance has so far raised £1,310 for Maggie’s.
