A teenager is fighting for his life following a serious car crash in west Fife on Friday evening, police have revealed.
Officers have appealed for information following the incident on the outskirts of High Valleyfield which occurred at around 9.30pm.
The collision, which happened on the A985 at the junction with Clinkum Bank, involved a Ford Ka and a Ford Fiesta, and an 18-year-old male passenger from the Ford Ka was taken to Edinburgh’s Western General Hospital in Edinburgh suffering from a serious head injury.
Medics there say the young man is in a critical but stable condition.
Other occupants of the Ford Ka are being treated at Kirkcaldy’s Victoria Hospital, although their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
Sergeant Stephen Quinn, from Fife’s Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with all affected by this tragic road traffic collision yesterday.
“I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or captured it with dash cam footage to come forward.
“Anyone who can help is ask to call Police Scotland quoting Incident 4269 of Friday 13 September 2019.
“The road was closed for a few hours to allow crash investigations to be carried out and I would like to thank everyone affected by the road closure for their patience.”
