A man has been arrested in connection with a bank raid in Dunfermline. A man entered the Bothwell Street branch of Bank of Scotland, before making off with a four figure sum of cash. The incident took place at around 9.05am on Monday. Police Scotland confirmed a 46-year-old man has since been arrested in connection with the alleged armed robbery. A Bank of Scotland spokesman said no customers or employees were harmed during the ordeal. The premises remained closed yesterday, with access only available to the cash machines at the front entrance. Police swooped on the area after the alarm was raised and occupants of nearby buildings were told to lock their doors. It is understood Fife Council’s New City House in Edgar Street was put on lockdown, with staff told not to leave the building. And a member of staff at MAXX Salon in Nethertown Broad Street said there was a ‘massive’ police presence. “There were lots of police vans and cars,” she said. “They were checking all the area. “The police said ‘ keep yourself safe and lock your door.’ “I locked the door because I had a client in at the time.”
