An unknown cyclist is still fighting for his life in hospital as police try to establish his identity.
The man, reckoned to be in his 40s, was seriously injured in a collision with a van in north-east Fife on Thursday morning.
He remains in a critical condition after being rushed to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee from the scene of the smash near Cupar.
Officers issued a photograph of the white mountain bike he was riding on Thursday and have now issued more details of his appearance and clothing in the hope someone will recognise him.
Sergeant Nicola Young, of Fife Road Policing Unit, said: “The man had no identification documents on him and so far his identity remains unknown.
“We have made extensive enquiries to try and establish who the man may be and it is believed he could have links to Cupar and may have been in Perth on Wednesday, September 25.”
The man is described as white with a brown, greying short beard and brown, sandy coloured hair.
He was wearing a black fleece with a yellow collar and embroidered with the National Geographic crest logo. He also had on black dress trousers and white Nike shoes.
Sgt Young said: “I would urge anyone who recognises the description of the man to get in touch with us.
“If you have information, no matter how small you think it may be, please call us on 101 quoting incident 462 of September 26.”
The collision, involving a Volkswagen Crafter van, occurred on the A913 between Cupar and the A92, near Parbroath crossroads, at around 6.45am.
