The dance moves of an Angus care home’s staff and residents have inspired a social media sensation across the whole of Scotland.
TikTok videos are being created throughout all of Balhousie Care Group’s 26 Scottish homes after the boogieing on display at Balhousie Antiquary home in Arbroath took the internet by storm.
The videos have been providing workers, and those they care for, with some light relief amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.
Residents and staff at properties in Dundee, Edzell, Crieff and Pitlochry were among those also taking part in the company-wide dance challenge using the app.
TikTok is the latest social media craze, and has been providing much-needed enjoyment to people across the globe amid lockdowns. It allows users to create entertaining videos via music, lip-sync and comedy.
The firm said the Balhousie TikTok Challenge has given staff some much-needed fun in their daily lives.
The videos have been made throughout the past few weeks and shared with relatives of residents at the care homes, and also reached thousands of people online.
And the Balhousie Antiquary Care Home appears to have put all others to shame in the competition with performances ranging from the YMCA to We Will Rock You.
Interim manager of the Angus site Cheryl Roy said: “Keeping my team and residents’ spirits high is really important right now and having fun is such a big part of that.
“Making these videos give us all a boost at Balhousie Antiquary and it’s been great seeing our videos inspire other homes across Balhousie take part and rise to the TikTok challenge.”
