Chief archaeologist Alan Hunter Blair has given The Courier an early look around the site of a compelling new dig.
A chance discovery while levelling the land for a proposed football pitch next to Carnoustie High School, Mr Hunter Blair suggests that he and his team have found settlements and artefacts relating to both the Bronze and Iron Age.
The exploration is understood to be in its infancy, with much more expected to be uncovered over the coming weeks.
