Staff at a Carnoustie business are appealing for the public’s help after their large car wash machine was found ripped from the wall.
The incident caused severe flooding at Burnside Motors, after it occurred between Friday night and Saturday afternoon.
The Panmure Industrial Estate business doesn’t know if it was an act of vandalism or an accident by a customer who had used the equipment, which was available 24 hours a day.
Police have also issued an appeal for information.
Service administrator Lorna McGinlay said: “Whether it’s been vandalised or someone’s caught the machine’s wiring but it’s been ripped right out we don’t know.”
A police appeal launched on Thursday urged members of the public with any useful information to come forward.
A spokesman said: “The machine was situated within the parking area of Burnside Motors at Panmure Industrial Estate and damaged some time between 5pm on Friday November 11 and 11.30am on Saturday November 12.
“This caused significant flooding and damage to the property.
“Anyone with any information that may be useful should contact Tayside Division on 101 or any police officer.
“Alternatively information can be passed anonymously via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”
