People in Arbroath, Carnoustie and Stonehaven braved the cold conditions to make a splash for charity in annual New Year dooks.
Arbroath’s seventh annual dook took place beside the lifeboat station, organised by the Angus Committee of Cancer Research UK.
A large crowd watched at Arbroath Harbour as more than 100 dookers were led into the water by piper Jack Newth, who is a member of Arbroath Pipe Band.
People who took part were offered a dram of malt whisky as they exited the North Sea or could also have a hot beverage from the RNLI Ladies Guild, who set up a stall in the lifeboat shed.
Meanwhile at Carnoustie, the annual dook organised by Carnoustie Rugby Club got under way with the tradition of a rugby ball being kicked into the sea.
Carnoustie councillor Brian Boyd, watching the crowds of people on the beach, praised the “fantastic” turnout.
He said: “It’s really great to see so many people take part and it’s all for good causes.”
Another dook took place in Stonehaven in aid of cancer support charity CLIC Sargent.
