A lorry driver has been cut free by firefighters and taken to hospital following a crash on the main road between Dundee and Aberdeen.
The A90 was closed southbound for around four hours after an HGV lorry jack-knifed near the Brechin by-pass at about 9.45am.
Firefighters, police and paramedics were called to the scene.
The road was fully closed to southbound traffic, and down to a single lane northbound.
Four fire and rescue appliances were sent from stations in Brechin, Laurencekirk and Montrose. A heavy rescue unit was also called to the scene from Dundee’s Macalpine Road.
The male driver of the lorry has been taken to hospital.
A fire and rescue spokeswoman said: “We were there assisting. Ambulance requested us.
“We had a rescue unit there as one male driver was medically trapped. We rescued the male and he is now en route to hospital.”
A separate collision involving one vehicle is said to have happened on the northbound A90 near Brechin at around the same time,
Diversions through Brechin are currently in place.
The A90 reopened at about 11.50am, however there are fast lane closures in place to allow for emergency repairs to road barriers.
A Traffic Scotland statement reads: “Due to a RTC, the southbound carriageway of the A90 at Brechin is closed.
“Drivers are advised to approach with caution and allow for longer than normal journey times.”
