A row has broken out after it was revealed a convicted paedophile has been delivering furniture to families in Dundee.
In November, Edgars Gapserovics, previously of Fintry Crescent, admitted downloading indecent images of children.
The 38-year-old has been working as a driver at Oleg’s Furniture, based at Templeton Farm, just north of Templeton Woods on the northern outskirts of the city boundary.
Some customers have said they will not use the company while Gapserovics works there because he is likely to come in to contact with their children.
Oleg Orlov, who has owned the company for five years, defended his employee and said his sentence does not prevent him from keeping the role.
He said: “A judge has decided his punishment should be to work hours unpaid.
“They have not decided to stop him from working with people. He doesn’t have restrictions.
“I totally understand if people are uncomfortable but I don’t see much of a problem.
“If anyone receiving a delivery is uncomfortable with him then we can send someone else. I don’t think it should affect his job. He is just a driver.
“Sometimes he helps carry furniture in to homes if he is needed.”
Police caught Gapserovics with the images at his flat when they examined his devices in relation to another matter.
Officers found four images classed in the most extreme category A, as well as one in category B and three in category C.
Dundee Sheriff Court previously heard Gasperovics had become estranged from his family before moving to the farm.
One person, who did not wish to be named, said: “His employer know he’s a registered sex offender and he’s sending him to people’s houses where he is likely to be coming into contact with children.
“I’ve got a three-year-old daughter and I wouldn’t want someone like that coming into my house.
“The guy was caught with category A images. That is serious.”
Another posted a review on the business’ Facebook page warning others not to use the company due to the sex offender’s employment there.
