A coronavirus case linked to a Dundee school is an adult, it has been confirmed.
The case at Kingspark School was reported on Tuesday afternoon and health bosses have said inquiries are ongoing.
They have been assured “all appropriate precautions are in place” and the school remains open.
Dr Ellie Hothersall, NHS Tayside consultant in public health medicine, said: “NHS Tayside, Dundee City Council and partners have been working closely to investigate the case and inquiries are ongoing.
“Risk assessments are being carried out, however, parents should be assured that all appropriate precautions are in place and the school remains open.”
Test and trace measures are in place and it is understood some pupils and parents have already been tested in connection with the case.
The person started displaying symptoms over the weekend and was tested on Monday.
Parents and carers of pupils who have been in direct contact with a confirmed case will be contacted by a member of the public health team.
Paul Clancy, Dundee City Council executive director of children and families services, added: “We are working closely with NHS Tayside’s health protection team and I would reassure families that appropriate action is being taken
“The school, which operated throughout the lockdown period as a community support centre, has robust hygiene measures in place.”
