A Dundee shopkeeper is said to have been left badly shaken after a weapon-wielding robber entered his store and demanded money.
Police are appealing for witnesses following the reported attempted robbery at the city’s St Giles News Plus shop.
A man brandishing a weapon is said to have entered the outlet at 7.45am on Saturday morning and threatened the terrified staff member.
Despite his demands, the man, said to be in his mid-20s, left empty-handed.
The shopkeeper was left unharmed.
A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed: “Police are looking to trace a man in connection with the incident.
“He’s described as being white, in his mid-20s, approximately five foot nine inches in height and of slim build.
“The man was wearing a large black jacket, dark coloured dress trousers and dark dress shoes. The man has a local/Dundee accent.
“Police believe the man may have been in the vicinity of the Co-op on the city’s St Boswells Terrace a short time before the alleged incident.
“As part of ongoing enquiries, police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or anything potentially suspicious in the area around the time to make contact via 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you wish to remain anonymous.”
