Six people had to be rescued in the Wellgate Centre after lifts broke down in a power cut.
Fire crews were alerted to the incident at around 11.45am this morning following the blackout and spent around 45 minutes breaking the people out of two lifts and a shopping unit.
Four people were trapped in the central glass lift while another was caught in another lift in the centre.
Another person was trapped in the Job Centre.
The firefighters forced open the doors, releasing the adults and one child by 12.30pm.
The Wellgate was evacuated as part of the emergency procedure during the outage, a spokeswoman confirmed.
A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “There were six people recsued.
“One appliance was sent to the Wellgate.
“We were alerted at around 11.45am and this was the only incident caused by the power cut.
“Everyone had been rescued by 12.30pm.”
Five hundred customers were affected by the blackout, and power has since been restored.
