A Dundee community has rallied together less than 24 hours after the loss of a pavilion which acted as a hub of activity, and a food bank, for local residents.
Playgroups, breakfast and lunch clubs ran from the Mill O’ Mains Community Pavilion, which was destroyed in a huge blaze on Sunday evening.
However locals vowed to continue their activities, setting themselves up in a play park neighbouring the fire-hit centre today.
In response to a call for food, blanket and toy donations following the loss of the building, staff at Tesco on the Kingsway arrived with a car full of donations. They have also set up an “emergency fund” for those affected.

at Mill O’ Mains Community Pavilion, said: “It’s the heart of the community, it is a lifeline for most people including young children, the elderly and the vulnerable.
“They use the building on a daily basis. It is used as a food bank and that as well so it is needed.
“My first thought was, what are we going to do tomorrow? So I got right on to Facebook last night and I put out a post that just says we’re not going to just sit back and let the kids go and do as they please.
“We said ‘everybody, we’ll meet in the park at 10am, we’ll make sure he breakfast and stuff gets dropped off there.”
