A massive fire erupted at Braeview Academy in Dundee on Tuesday evening.
Every fire and police crew in the north of the city helped tackle the blaze at the secondary school in the Whitfield area.
A total of nine fire and rescue appliances, and four height vehicles, were called to the scene.
All surrounding roads were sealed.
The entire roof was engulfed in flames shortly after 9pm, and firefighters attempted to flood the building.
Nobody is said to have been injured.
Witnesses said the whole building was engulfed in flames and neighbours initially feared the wind would cause it to spread to nearby woodland.
Firefighters had the incident under control by about midnight.
Nearby resident David Rodgers, who saw the blaze while out walking his dog in Dunbar Park, said: “It’s an extensive fire.
“The flames are about 30 to 40 feet in the air and it spread from one end of the building to the other in about 20 minutes.”
Another man, who lives in Dunbar Park, watched the scene unfold.
“The whole sky is red and the building is being completely gutted,” he said.
“I’m really hoping they can contain in because it’s really windy so if it spreads it will catch all of the surrounding woodland.”
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: “We are dealing with a fire at Braeview Academy and have six appliances in attendance.”
Dundee City Council has confirmed the school will be closed on Wednesday.
Emergency services are currently dealing with a major fire @BraeviewAcademy. The school will be CLOSED to pupils and staff tomorrow (Wednesday). A further update will be provided after the fire is extinguished and an assessment of the building has been carried out.

Dundee City Council leader John Alexander said there has been an “extensive amount of damage” to the building.
Rapidly moving situation with more appliances en-route to the fire at Braview.
It seems that the fire has taken hold of the entire roof section and they are attempting to flood the roof.
I don't know more than that at his stage but clearly an extensive amount of damage.
