The Scottish Refugee Council has urged people to help in the search for one of their “vulnerable” clients who has been missing for more than a week.
Zahra Ombabi, originally from Sudan, was last seen near Dundee Railway Station at around 6am on Wednesday December 12.
Officers are still trying to trace her, with a Police Scotland spokesman saying she is still being classed as a missing person.
A statement issued at the weekend appealed for anyone who with information to contact them on 101.
And now the Scottish Refugee Council has joined the appeal, confirming that she is one of their clients. They issued a plea for anyone with information to contact the police.
However, a spokeswoman for group said that they could not add anymore information on places she is known to frequent.
Some people who know Zhara have described her a “vulnerable”.
Diare Sylla said: “She is vulnerable and I hope Scottish refugee support workers help her no matter her circumstances and no matter how difficult she may be. She needs help before it’s too late.
“I hope she will be found safe.”
Alison Chalmers said: “I assisted her in town when she was very distressed a couple of months ago, and contacted Amina in Dundee to alert them, hoping they would know of her.
“She was extremely vulnerable and I hope she is found safe and given the help she clearly needs.”
The 48-year old is 5’7″ tall with a medium build and dark hair. Her hair may be covered with a hijab-style headscarf, however.
When approached for more detail by The Courier, a Scottish Refugee Council spokeswoman said they are “still really concerned” about Zahra, but that they are not able to comment any further.
“It’s just very tricky for us when people are clients,” she added.
The Scottish Refugee Council work with refugees and asylum seekers across Scotland from their offices in Glasgow.
A Police Scotland spokesman said that enquiries are “progressing” but that there is no further information to make public since their last appeal.
Anyone who has seen Zahra is asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if they wish to remain anonymous and quote incident number 2196 of December 14.
