The Glass Pavilion restaurant in Broughty Ferry has been put up for sale – just 15 months after its current owners took over the business.
Current owner John Richardson said he is selling because he wants to concentrate on other business interests in the restaurant trade.
And he said he has already had inquiries from interested parties about purchasing The Glass Pavilion even though it has only been on the market for a week.
The restaurant is on the market for £119,950 plus stock at valuation.
Potential purchasers would buy out the 14 years remaining on the building’s 15-year lease.
However, they will also have to pay rent of £72,000 a year and rates of £23,500 a year.
Mr Richardson said: “I have different business interests coming up and that’s all it is. I’m staying in the restaurant trade – I’ve been in catering for 17 years.”
Mr Richardson added: “I’ve already had inquiries and it’s only been on the market since last Monday.
“It was left in a pretty bad state when we took it over 15 months ago but everybody is coming back now.”
The Glass Pavilion is being marketed by Hilton Smythe.
They said: “The business was established in 2005 and has been under the careful and meticulous ownership of our client for just over 12 months and have grown the business to an impressive level of turnover.
“The business offers a bespoke dining experience set on the banks of the River Tay with the art deco listed building formerly being a bathing shelter constructed in the 1930s.
“In recent years the building has been transformed to provide one of the most stunning dining venues in Scotland, with the glass-fronted restaurant offering stunning, uninterrupted panoramic views out across the river.”
The Glass Pavilion can cater for 50 covers.
The current owners employ five staff at the Esplanade restaurant.
Hilton Smythe added: “We feel that there is tremendous scope to increase the already impressive turnover and take the business to the next level by undertaking in a robust national marketing campaign to generate a flow of new customers, along with revised and extended opening hours, with the possible introduction of offering the restaurant as a wedding venue due to overall size, layout and location.”
