A woman has been taken to Kirkcaldy’s Victoria Hospital with serious injuries after being struck by a car on a busy road in the town.
The pedestrian had been crossing Dunnikier Way, just outside the Asda supermarket, at around 3,05pm when the collision took place near a set of traffic lights.
Emergency services were called to the scene and the woman was briefly treated by paramedics before being rushed to A&E.
Police said the woman’s injuries were “serious”, but said they were not thought to be life threatening.
No further details about the age of the woman or the make of vehicle involved have been released.
The road was closed while investigations got under way, causing traffic congestion on surrounding routes.
