Families were reunited and golf returned to the sport’s official home of St Andrews on Friday as certain Scottish lockdown restrictions were relaxed.
People flocked to the beauty spots of both West Sands and East Sands beaches to soak up the sunshine after unprecedented measures in place to tackle coronavirus were lifted for the first time since March.
Locals are now able to meet with others from another household outdoors, once a day, with sports including golf, tennis, bowls and fishing also resuming. Sunbathing is also permitted.
The restrictions meant golfing could resume on St Andrews’ iconic Old Course, with competition for slots on the links particularly high.
