Police have charged a young woman following an alleged illegal party in woodland on the outskirts of Dunfermline last weekend – and warned others are in their sights.
Officers arrested and charged the 22-year-old with culpable and reckless conduct in relation to a public gathering in breach of coronavirus guidance at Calais Muir Woods.
A report is expected to be sent to the procurator fiscal.
A Police Scotland spokesperson added: “Further persons will be traced and charged.”
A gazebo, seats, empty bottles and other rubbish was left behind after the apparent party held at some point over the weekend, and local volunteers stepped in to help clear up the mess.
Shirley-Anne Somerville, SNP MSP for Dunfermline and West Fife, said: “It is pure selfishness to leave rubbish lying around for someone else to sort out.
“It’s 2020 and we should all be trying to do our bit to protect the environment and it’s disheartening to see some people showing our communities so little respect.
“My thanks to the volunteers who helped with the clean-up but they shouldn’t have to do this in the first place.”
