A Fife man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder.
Kenneth Sparling, made a private appearance at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on Wednesday following an incident in Methil on Monday evening.
The 44-year-old, whose address was given as Fife by the Crown, also faced charges of assault to severe injury, permanent disfigurement and danger of life and of being in possession of a firearm.
Sparling made no plea and was released on bail pending further inquiries.
A date for his next court appearance has yet to be confirmed.
Police said officers were flagged down on Methil Brae at around 5.15pm on Monday after a 42-year-old man was found lying outside a property with stab wounds to his leg.
The victim is in Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, where is is said to be in a critical but stable condition.
