Pupils in five classes at a Dunfermline primary school have been told to self-isolate after positive Covid-19 cases were identified.
Three people with links to Carnegie Primary are confirmed as having the virus and are already isolating at home with other household members.
As a precaution, youngsters in P1a, P1/2 composite class, P2/3 composite class, P5/6 composite and P6b have also been told to isolate.
NHS Fife said that following a risk assessment based on available information, the risk to pupils appears to be low.
The news follows an announcement that people with links to Kettle Primary in Kingskettle, and South Parks Primary in Glenrothes, have also received positive results for coronavirus.
Each school has one confirmed case of the virus and at Kettle, the P4/5 class has been asked to isolate up to and including October 12.
At South Parks, the P5 class is having to isolate up to October 13, resuming activities from October 14.
The isolation period covers the start of the school holidays.
The announcement by NHS Fife brings the number of Fife schools affected by coronavirus to more than 20.
Fife Council has created a comprehensive list of questions and answers for parents and carers at: www.fife.gov.uk/schoolcovidfaqs.
Meanwhile, three cases of Covid-19 were confirmed at Fife College on Friday evening, while the number of positive tests at St Andrews University now stands at 34.
NHS Fife said anyone who develops any of the established symptoms of the virus, such as a fever; or a loss or change in taste or smell; or a new and continuous cough, should arrange testing using the UK Government Citizens’ Portal at www.nhs.uk/ask-for-a-coronavirus-test or by calling 0800 028 2816.
