A five mile stretch of road was closed after two vehicles collided when snow caused treacherous conditions in Fife.
It is understood a casualty was taken to hospital by ambulance after the accident outside Kirkcaldy, which involved a car and a van.
It happened on the B9157 Orrock Quarry road at the junction with the A909.
Two fire appliances and ambulance crew were called to the scene shortly before 2pm on Tuesday.
The incident happened after heavy snowfall which caused hazardous road conditions.
Fire fighters used hydraulic cutting gear to free the casualty from one of the vehicles. The casualty’s condition is not known.

There were multiple road collisions across Fife as the weather worsened.
Motorists on the A921 Burntisland to Aberdour Road encountered problems, with reports of a bus and cars stuck on the brae into Aberdour.

Meanwhile, six vehicles were involved in a collision on Formonthills Road in Glenrothes at around 11.45am.
The accident happened on a steep gradient during icy conditions.
There were no reports of any injuries.
