A second teenager has lost his fight for life after suffering serious injuries in a horror car crash which also killed his friend.
Connor Aird died in hospital on Friday evening after being left in a critical condition following the accident on the A915 Standing Stane Road near Kirkcaldy last Sunday.
The 17-year-old had been a passenger in a black Vauxhall Corsa alongside his friend Ethan King, also 17, who was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
Another passenger from the vehicle, Danny Stevens, 18, remains in hospital for treatment to his serious injuries. His condition is described as stable.
The 17-year-old driver of the car was taken to Ninewells Hospital and was arrested on suspicion of drink driving. Enquiries into the collision are on-going.
Hundreds of devastated friends and loved ones of the tragic duo are to gather on Kirkcaldy Promenade tonight to pay tribute to the young men.
Matthew Lafferty shared the tragic news on a Facebook page set up to organise the memorial event on Friday night.
He wrote: “Can everyone please share to let them know it’s for both of them. Just been to see Connor for the time ever. What a sin, such a loving, sound boy.
“Can’t believe we’re not going to see you again. You will be sadly missed.
“His machine will be turned off tonight so I have checked with Ethan’s mum and dad to make sure it’s okay we are going to join the memorial for Ethan and Connor tomorrow.
“I know they would have wanted that, a memorial for two best pals, brothers till the end and beyond. God love use boys. Until we meet again.”
Inquiries into the collision are ongoing and officers continue to appeal to anyone who saw the black Vauxhall Corsa travelling in the area prior to the collision, or who has information that can help the investigation, to get in touch.
Sergeant Nicola Young from Fife’s Road Policing Unit said: “Tragically as a result of the collision a second young person has lost their life and our thoughts remain with his family and friends, as well as those of the other injured parties, at this difficult time.
“I would again appeal to anyone who may have information to assist our inquiries, and has not yet spoken to officer, to come forward at their earliest convenience.”
