Tributes have been paid to a Fife father of two who died in a Hogmanay road accident.
Ryan Dorrill, 25, was fatally injured when his car left the carriageway on the A915 Standing Stane Road on Monday morning.
His mother Susan Frearson, who has relocated to Greece, was abroad when the tragedy happened and managed to get a flight back from Corfu on Wednesday.
She said: “Myself, all the family, and Ryan’s partner Amy and Ryan’s kids, would like to thank everyone for the messages and calls and we would respect some privacy to come to terms with the devastating news.”
Susan has set up a crowdfunding page to “give Ryan the send off he deserves”. By Wednesday, £265 of the £1,000 fundraising goal had been raised.
Meanwhile, Susan and Ryan’s sister Victoria-Louise, who also lives in Greece, told friends they would not be celebrating the start of 2019 and kindly asked people not to send New Year messages.
Victoria-Louise said: “This will be by far the un-happiest day for the rest of my life.
“We appreciate the thought for wishing us a happy New Year and we are extremely grateful to have so many special people in my life who want to wish us well but please, not today.”
The family was inundated with messages of condolence, as friends remembered a “lovely young man”.
One said: “So very sorry to hear your terrible news. It’s beyond comprehension.”
