Fife’s council boss is the 15th highest paid in Scotland in a “rich list” of local authority employees. Chief executive Steve Grimmond earned a £196,982 package, which included his £149,646 salary and his pension. Mr Grimmond was named in a league table of more than 200 high-earning Scottish town hall workers revealed by the Taxpayers’ Alliance. Some 11 other Fife Council staff were on more than £100,000 a year, compared with seven in Angus and five in both Dundee and Perth and Kinross. The Taxpayers’ Alliance has criticised “staggering” pay-outs for those in top jobs, while services continue to be slashed. >> Keep up to date with the latest news with The Courier newsletter David Martin, the Dundee chief executive officer, was 27th in the list on £172,642, including a salary of £147,557. In 49th place, Angus Council chief executive Margo Williamson’s £128,218 annual pay is part of her £148,665 remuneration. In Scotland the local authority with the most employees who received remuneration in excess of £100,000 in 2017-18 was North Lanarkshire with 28. For more on this story, click here.
