An elderly woman in Cowdenbeath has been robbed after falling victim to a pair of bogus callers, police have revealed.
Two men agreed to carry out gardening work in Gilmour Street at around 2.30pm on Monday August 26, were given access to the lady’s property and paid £100 in advance.
No work was carried out though and the victim later discovered that a three-figure sum of money had been stolen from her home.
The two men involved were both white and are described as being aged between 20 and 40-years-old.
The first man was of slim build with short fair/blond hair wearing a grey shirt and grey trousers.
The second was also of slim build, with dark brown hair in a mullet style, and was wearing dark clothing.
The pair left the area in a white Ford Transit van.
A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “These criminals have exploited the trust of this woman to steal a sum of money from within her home. I am appealing for anyone who can help us identify these individuals, or who has any information relevant to this investigation, to contact police immediately.
“The public are reminded to never allow unsolicited callers to carry out work at their home and never allow anyone entry if you are not entirely certain of who they are.
“Those with information can contact Police Scotland via 101 quoting incident number 2181 of August 26.
