A 14-year-old boy has appeared in court accused of starting the ferocious blaze which devastated a Fife high school.
The Kirkcaldy youngster, who cannot be named because of his age, appeared in private at Dunfermline Sheriff Court on Tuesday, charged with wilful fireraising to the danger of life.
The move followed a huge fire at Woodmill High School on Sunday night, which has left 1,400 pupils with an uncertain future.
The teenager made no plea to the accusations against him and was released on bail pending further examination of the case.
Two firefighters were taken to hospital suffering from the effects of the heat during the battle to contain the inferno.
They have since fully recovered.
Fife Council is still looking at options to get pupils back to school as quickly as possible but said no part of the Woodmill building had been left untouched by the blaze.
