All teachers in Perth and Kinross have been told to return to class on Monday morning.
Staff were told on Friday afternoon that they are needed back at primaries and secondaries throughout the region to teach “vulnerable” pupils who don’t have childcare.
Teachers who are self-isolating or signed off can stay home.
Perth and Kinross Council said it was an interim measure while they finalise alternative plans.
A spokesman said: “Schools will continue to open to healthy school staff who normally work there.
“We are identifying vulnerable children who will be able to attend.”
He added: “S4 to S6 pupils completing their SQA coursework can also attend, as can the children of key workers who have no other child care options.”
Packed lunches will be served to pupils attending school next week. They will also be available to children who are entitled to free school meals, but who shouldn’t be attending school as per government guidelines.
Families can collect the meals from their nearest schools.
These arrangements are expected to remain in place until April 3.
