More than 240 staff at the Crieff Hydro hotel chain are facing redundancy.
Chief executive Stephen Leckie said a consultation is under way with the workforce across his portfolio of seven hotels.
He told the Courier around 80 staff may have to go, although the final figure will be based on how lockdown restrictions are eased and if there is any further support for the hospitality sector.
Mr Leckie said the move followed a significant downturn in trade, as a result of the coronavirus lockdown.
The group runs the Crieff Hydro and Murraypark Hotel, also in Crieff, as well as Peebles Hydro and The Park in the Borders and Isles of Glencoe, Ballachullish Hotel and Kinghouse Hotel in West Highlands.
