Justin Bieber fans got more than they bargained for when they flocked to his Tayside hideaway, hoping for a brief glimpse of their music idol.
The Canadian star has forked out thousands of pounds to stay at the luxurious Kinross House during a series of sell-out Scottish shows.
When local Beliebers got wind of the star’s arrival, they camped out at the gates of the 14-bedroom mansion.
The young fans welcomed their hero with a can of Irn Bru, delivered via an obliging security guard. They attached a hidden message, proclaiming their undying love.
In an apparent show of gratitude, Bieber was later seen on the steps of the historic home, wearing just his underpants.
The singer’s arrival in Kinross-shire sparked a fan frenzy, with dozens of secondary school pupils gathering at the gates of the 17th century manor on Friday afternoon.
Bieber is said to have picked the secluded stately home, with its expansive driveway, to avoid screaming fans.
He has reportedly hired a £650-a-day butler during his short stay.
Superfan Lauren Williamson, 14, was one of the first to arrive at Kinross House.
“We heard rumours at school and checked it up online,” she said. “We get a half day on a Friday, so as soon as we broke for lunch we came down here.
“We just want to see him or maybe even chat with him.”
Pal Georgina Bremner, 14, added: “I didn’t believe it at first. You never get people like Justin coming to a place like Kinross. It’s crazy.”
One pupil dashed to a local shop when the gates opened and there was a chance to deliver a message. She returned with a can of Irn Bru – and some sellotape from a nearby pub to attach a message.
The note, signed by nearly all the waiting Beliebers, read: “We love you. Come see at the gates. We won’t be loud.”
The present was given to a security guard who set off along the mansion’s expansive driveway in his golf buggy.
There was great anticipation when he re-appeared a few minutes later. When he finally reached the gates, he had a message from the teen idol: “Would you stop ringing the bell, please. It’s really very annoying.”
Bieber was earlier spotted motoring around the grounds of the luxury retreat. His grandmother Diane Dale has joined him on his visit to Scotland and was seen wandering the grounds, taking photographs.
Kinross House was designed as a stately home by and for architect Sir William Bruce.
Work began on the estate in 1686 and finally completed in 1693.
Daniel Defoe, famous for being the author of ‘Robinson Crusoe’, described the house as being “the most beautiful and regular piece of architecture in Scotland”.
It was then owned by the Montgomery family for around 200 years before being sold to English businessman Donald Fothergill in 2011.
Bieber is currently on a world tour in support of his latest album ‘Purpose’, and is in the middle of a three-night run of massive shows at Glasgow’s SSE Hydro arena.
