Charges will be introduced to Perth city centre’s last large-scale free public car park in November.
Operator Live Active Leisure (LAL) has announced it is closing the loophole which gave thousands of motorists free parking at Perth Leisure Pool.
A survey of leisure pool users saw many complain they have to park elsewhere when spaces are filled by shoppers and city centre workers.
LAL operations chief Paul Cromwell claimed it was a “source of frustration” that so many people chose to exploit the lack of fees.
Drivers will be charged 20p for two hours, after a free initial 15 minute spell, rising to £10 for up to 12 hours.
