Part of a Perth street has been cordoned off after smoke began to rise from a manhole cover.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were called to South Street shortly after 10.20am.
An eyewitnesses described the incident as an “some kind of underground fire”.
A spokesman for the fire service said: “We are currently attending at South Street at the junction with Scott Street where smoke is coming from a manhole cover in the pavement.
“We are waiting on Scottish Hydro attending and have cordoned off the area in the meantime.”
