Police officers were left in a flap after being called to deal with dozens of disorientated ducklings.
The birds were found at the side of the B935 near Forteviot on Saturday night.
Posting on social media, the force said: “Anyone missing 100 ducklings? Not the usual Saturday night crowd control! You never know what’s on the road.”
Despite suggestions that the flock had been dumped, officials say they do not believe their is any fowl play.
A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “We were called to the B935, close to Forteviot, at 11.30pm on Saturday.
“There was 100 ducklings close to the side of the road and they were ushered away.”
He added that he had “no idea” where the ducks had come from.
They are keeping abreast of developments and anyone with any information on the ducks can contact them on 101.
