Christmas kicks off in Perth from Saturday November 16 as the city’s Christmas lights get switched on during a massive street party.
The day will be filled with fantastic entertainment, courtesy of pop supergroup Atomic Kitten and a host of Winter Clubland Classics including Alice DJ, NTrance; as well as Scottish singer-songwriter Nina Nesbitt.
The musical line-up offers something for everyone with stages based throughout the city featuring Boomin, Top Elvis Tribute (Lee Memphis King) and Perth/Dundee rock and pop tribute band Last Orders.
Catchphrase host Stephen Mulhern will be keeping things moving on the main stage and keeping the crowds in the party spirit. Joining Stephen, and bringing the spirit of the 70’s, will be Mister Lionel Vinyl.
Also back by popular demand will be everyone’s favourite fox, Basil Brush, on the kids’ stage.
Perth’s annual Christmas party is Scotland’s premier lights switch-on event. It runs from 12 noon to late offering something for all the family, including a dedicated children’s performance stage, Santa’s grotto, ice caves, live ice sculpting and much more.
The Christmas parade will set off from Thimblerow at 5.30pm, making its way to South Street/Speygate and then on to the Tay Street main stage for the official switch-on.
At 6.15pm the lights will be switched on by the Provost of Perth and Kinross, Dennis Melloy, who will be joined on stage by a host of stars and special guests to press the button to trigger the festive lights, followed by an impressive fireworks display over the beautiful River Tay.
With the Perth Festive Feast carrying on the fun on Sunday, including an edible map of cake, the Great Perthshire Soup Competition finale, and day two of the Perth Chocolate, Gin and Things Market as well as the four day Festive Market, Perth is the perfect place for a pre-Christmas winter break.
